Indie Life!

I had plans on writing this post earlier this morning, but as we all know, life gets in the way sometimes. This time, it's in the form of four lab puppies! Yesterday, the hubby and I drove all the way to Richmond to meet a friend (who came up from South Carolina) to pick up four lab pups. We are now the proud owners of a beautiful chocolate lab we named Gertie, while three of our friends are taking the remainder of the bunch. Needless to say, I stayed up all night and have spent the entire day cleaning and puppy proofing (while they napped)! We are now down to three and by tomorrow, two. I really hope that by Thursday evening, it will just be Gertie so I can actually get some sleep and get back to work!

Here are two of the puppies!

So while I have a few moments to spare, I wanted to introduce y'all to Indie Life! Hosted by the Indelibles, it offers insight into indie authors to offer support, advice, tips, or whatever! So make sure to check-in on the main site every second Wednesday of the month (you can find it on my sidebar) to read about what other indie authors are up to.

As for me, even thought I've got my hands full at the moment, things are always in the works. I just heard back from the fabulous Sienna Beckman, who just finished recording the first book in my series! She still has to do some editing, but I expect to have PARALLEL on audio by the end of the month! I never expected to ever have my books available on audio, but now it's a reality!

So for those of you who haven't considered audio as an option, I really recommend you try it. I went through Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX), listened to some sample readings, contacted a voice artist I thought had the right "voice" for my character and she accepted my offer! All of this within a month... That's one of the great things about being indie: if you want something done, or try something new, you just do it! If anyone wants more info on how it works and/or how it's working for me, shoot me an email

That's all the indie info I have time for today. I have to get back to the romper room extravaganza that's going on in my office. Don't forget to check back every second Wednesday of the month (or weekly if you want to read my other blather) for more Indie Life!

  1. When in doubt, put up a picture of puppies, right?

I'm hoping to get my voice-trained daughter to do some readings. But she's already working two jobs, so…

Keep us posted on how it works for you!

  5. When the time comes, I may contact these Audiobook Creation Exchange people. Sounds like a good resource for us indie authors!

  6. Hi Claudia! Thanks for sharing the ACX link. I didn't even realize audio books were an option for an indie author. I'll definitely be checking it out.
