Post Breakdown

Feeling better since my mini-break down earlier this week. I actually had another one, where I emailed all my beta readers and begged for them to let me send them another copy of PARALLEL. I had gone back to edit and it was riddled with typos/errors/plot holes. My beta's were very understanding (thanks guys) and supportive. I've already got feedback from Kate Copeseeley (you're the best) and I feel better about my story. You can fix your writing, but you can't fix your story...

I've been editing and polishing off PARALLEL and it's taking damn near forever. I swear it's taking 2-3 hours per page! I'm only half way done, and I've been editing since Thursday. But I actually managed to add another 3,000 words to it. It will probably end up being a total of 10k words more than what I originally intended.

And thanks to everyone for all your supportive comments this past week! That's what ROW80 is all about, right? I feel much better knowing I'm not the only one who's gone through this!

Kate - I'm breathing again!

  1. Oh Claudia, how frustrating! I hate that feeling when you wrap something up, and you love what you've done, and then realize - usually in the most embarrassing way possible, it has.....issues. :-) (doesn't sound like I've ever done that before, does it?) Looking forward to Parallel - I know it will be great!!!

  2. Thanks Shari. I know I promised you a new copy this weekend, but it's taking me much longer to clean up than I originally thought. I am almost done though :)

Lessons Learned #1: take a week off and don't read your WIP, then look at it again before you send it off to beta's!

  3. Glad to hear you're breathing again :) Try not to stress - at least you've learned new lessons that will make the next one easier!! Good luck finishing up, and I can't wait to check it out!

  4. Claudia! Where have I been? I'm so sorry to hear about your writing/editing break down. We've all been there in one way or another. I'm glad to read that you're doing better now - I'm sorry that I'm late to the party. Take your time and try not to stress with edits. I, for one, can't wait to read Parallel!
