Lazy, with a lack of patience...

I totally forgot it was Sunday, forgot to eat lunch, forgot it was ROW80 check-in day! Why? Because the weather is so perfect here in Northern Virginia, the hubby and I have been working on the backyard since yesterday. I am actually sitting on my outdoor deck, taking in the nice cool breeze, enjoying the lovely 80 degree weather. Never being one for patience, (it's no virtue of mine), we have opened up the pool and Casa Lefeve is now fully operational! How can we not when we didn't even have a true winter?

On the writing front, I actually brainstormed some more over the last few days on a couple of projects. Again, I don't know where two of them are going at this point, but the voices keep telling me to research. I feel like I'm dragging my heels on any real writing and getting anything productive done because of this. But, not wanting to put Paradigm on the back burner, I've managed to iron out the first scene and usually that's the hardest part for me. Well, that and the ending. Usually, when I have those two scenes figured out, the rest is smooth sailing...

For now, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my afternoon (laptop on lap) out on my deck, sipping' me some Pacifico beer, while the hubby fires up the grill for some yummy South Texas style fajitas!

  1. Ah, I can just picture the scene! I hope you're having a wonderful afternoon. We fired up the grill the other day. I need to get the deck furniture cleaned up and we'll be good to go!

Claudia, you gotta listen to those voices! If you need to research, then you do. :)

    1. I love the voices, but damn if they don't distract me! :)

  2. It has been a strange winter. I was really hoping to see some kind of snow but it was hell bent on being spring. LOL. Enjoy the break. Because before you know it, things will click and you won't get a chance to breathe. Have a good week :)

    1. We only had one day of snow this year and it melted shortly after falling! We usually get one or two big snow falls, but not this year! I only hope it doesn't mean a hotter summer!

  3. Ahhh...that picture sure does have a comforting feeling to it. No harm in getting in some breaths of 80 degree joy. :-)

On the writing front, are you an outliner? If so, maybe you can start putting down plot points as you do some research to ease some of the feelings of dragging the heels. If you want to dive right in, you could start crafting lines towards that first scene while doing research items. Have a great week!

    1. I'm actually not an outliner! I will jot some notes in the general direction of where I want to go, so I don't forget, but that's it. But since I'm technically working on three projects, perhaps drafting a few plot points will do me some good :)

  4. It looks so nice where you are! It's been cloudy, without much sun, and now rainy here in central NY. Spring has been all over the place it seems! Hope you enjoyed the day and great job on the work you've done on Paradigm. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks Kat! It is now morning and I'm back outside! We're not up for rain until next week, but then again, I never trust the weather folks. If I can get organized and situated long enough where I'm not doing home improvement, I can get to writing Paradigm a lot faster!!

  5. Lovely scene and I have to admit I've spent a bit of time writing outside on our patio as well, although it isn't as pretty as your picture. Follow your voice, you can always do research by the pool - otherwise, just keep pressing forward. Have a great week, Claudia. Enjoy the fantastic weather :)

    1. Gene, any time spent on a patio is "good times" no matter what the scene! I don't know where you are, but if you're writing outside, you must be sharing some of this good weather! Have a great week!

  6. It's got to be close to 90 degrees for me to swim - I love hot weather...:) I hope we have a nice, warm summer. But! We need some rain here in NEPA. It's dry...really dry right now. That doesn't bode well for my garden plans. Ha.

As for getting motivated...I had to take a rest, too. I'm back at it again and feeling good, but I want to relish spring and summer. I hibernate during the cold, which is perfect for working.

Enjoy that patio. It's supposed to hit 80 degrees here today...I'm loving it.

    1. I agree, it will probably be another month or so before I actually get in the pool...I just got tired of seeing all the leaves/water/bugs on the pool cover! We need some rain too, my plants will surely be grateful (especially since I'm bad about watering!)

I'm going to try to mix business w/ pleasure and work more outside so I get the best of both worlds!
