Bad News First

I've been dreading this post. I've put it off for weeks, days, and now it's finally time to sit down, get over it, and write the damn post.

I had really hoped that I would meet my dealing and have PARADIGM out to my beta readers this week. Things just got a little out of hand and I'm way behind. There were several scenes that just have to be rewritten and it's going to take me a little longer than planned. I want to make sure I do book 3 justice and certainly don't want to publish a mediocre story simply because to meet my deadline. Now, I don't want to jinx things again by putting out a new date, but..... I should have something for my beta's sometime next month.

I want to thank everyone who has emailed and left comments on my Facebook page letting me know how much you've enjoyed the Travelers series so far! It means the world to hear from you and I hope you're not too disappointed that I have to push book 3 a few more weeks.

Now, here's a little of what I've been up to these last couple of weeks:

Yesterday, the fabulous folks over at Wattpad featured PARALLEL and asked me to do a guest post on the Influence of Pop-Culture on their blog.

I also did a quick Q&A yesterday over at Write by the Rails, a local writer's group that I'm a proud member of.

Today, I got to visit Ty Johnston over at his blog, where I chat a little about PARADIGM, Buffy, and snack foods.

I've got two new short stories in the works! The first is for this year's Coffin Hop! I am so excited to get to submit a short for this awesome event. I'm about half-way done and I should have it finished by the end of the week. Now, even if my story isn't selected, I'll still be promoting the hell out of it and will have some fabulous prizes in store (3 months to go ya'll)!!

The second story will be for a Christmas themed anthology, put together by the fabulous Red Tash. This story will be part of the Travelers Series universe! I hope to have this short finished by the end of the month.

And in case you missed the last couple of posts, unDEAD DIXIE DEBS is now available (ebook) on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The print version finally got done earlier this week and is now in print!

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and staying cool!

  1. Hey! Chin up! Quality before quantity, right? I'm sure the book will be fabulous when finished. You've got quite a lot on your plate with the short stories and guest posts, too!

    1. Exactly! I want to make sure it's done right and not rushed. I've realized that this is a much harder story to write than than the first two!

  2. I think the third one is totally the hardest to write! Take your time and do your best - we'll wait for it. :)

  5. I agree that only you know best, meaning you are the author of your series. Clearly, you take your writing and your readers most seriously. That is such an excellent trait to have. Best to you with your writing and continued success.

  6. You want to know something funny? I am cleaning up my blogger list of subscribed blogs, and in general just jettisoning people left and right because I don't have the time to keep up with all these blogs. I thought "Oh, I'll just check one more before I inhale this Lime-a-rita and call it a day." Totally didn't look to see whose blog it was.

Well, if it ain't my buddy Claudia!!! (I just saw a link that said "Bad News First" and thought "Uh oh.")

Well, if this is your idea of bad news, keep it coming! I just started Paradox this morning, & might have to go back re-read the end of Parallel before I push on, but so far it has been a lot of fun. There's so much heat there! Whew! This is going to be good. And again, I love the new covers. LOVE them.

Okay, so then I'm reading along (here) and I'm like "A Wattpad feature! Awesome!" and I go and click on that and then come back. Still smiling, because, wow, 23000 reads!

And I'm scrolling along and I see *my name* and that pretty much just turned my afternoon around into a win. So, thank you, my friend. Keep that bad news coming.

And, yes, take your time before submitting to your betas!!! You won't regret it. The only deadline you're under is your own anticipation.

    Off to slurp my Lime-a-rita,

    1. I'm guilty of the same thing...to many blogs to follow! When I get some time, I gotta do some clean up of my own :)

I had 400 reads in 4 months on Wattpad and after the feature, it went to 23k in several days!! I'm getting a lot of good feedback and comments from readers.

Now, is that a lime-a-rita, with tequila? Cuz I'm game :)

    2. Whatever it is, I think it wants to be tequila when it grows up! ;)

Well, I'm thrilled for you. 23,000 reads is awesome.

Claudia, waiting for book 3 with great anticipation. If it is anything like "Parallel" and "Paradox", it will be worth the wait. Have also read "Fury" and now reading your short stories. LOVED them all. Had just read the fifty shades trilogy. Like it, but yours was amazing. Can't wait for #3.

    1. S - Thank you!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the books :) I am leaving for a conference for a week, but I hope to get at least 10 mins a day to work on book #3 while I'm gone :) Hope the Valley isn't as hot as it is here right now (though, it probably is)!!
